“I worked in Monte Carlo for 4 years"
My Story: I was born into a hotel keeping family and spent my first 18 years living in Room 114 of a hotel in Aberdeenshire. I took a three-year trainee programme with Holiday Inn and worked as a food and beverage manager at a hotel in Edinburgh. I became resident manager for a couple of hotels before joining Malmaison as General Manager. I left the group for a while to work in Monte Carlo as Managing Director of a hotel Group. I re-joined Malmaison and then won a Catey award for Manager of the Year. In the same year Malmaison was awarded AA group of the year. This year Hotel du Vin won the same award and for the sixth consecutive year won The Guardian Observer Business Travel Award.
Funny Story: I will always rememver walking into the Columbus hotel in monte carlo and seeing Bono, bob geldoff, michael stipe and serving behind the bar the eve of edges. I have also served lenni kravitz, Helena christianson etc etc, we have got to pinch ourselves sometimes!!!!
