Career Path: Carpenter > Hotel Work > Rooms Division > General Manager > MSC Hospitality
“I found myself completely mesmerised by this self-contained world that catered to every possible need and it was a moment that was set to change my life forever"
My Story: I began my career in the hotel industry whilst working as a carpenter in the London Hilton on Park Lane when I was 19 years old. I had never set foot inside a hotel until that day and found myself completely mesmerised by this self-contained world that catered to every possible need and it was a moment that was set to change my life forever. Leaving my carpentry trade behind, I went on to work at the hotel for two and a half years before working in a few other places. I was then head hunted and became Rooms Division and Spa Manager of Rocco Forte’s flagship hotel, The Balmoral, in Edinburgh. Not long after I started my General Manager was made redundant leaving the running of the place down to me. After 14 months I was offered a General Manager position.
Funny Story: Watching a "High Profile" Football Manager skate board across the hotel lobby on a Concierge Trolley at 4 am in the morning - although their team had lost the FA Cup Final they had played they were having the biggest after match party!!!
